Central Mahébourg has narrow, often congested streets, especially on Mondays, the big market day: park away from the centre and walk the rest. The seafront has spaces, but follow the signs and avoid blocking entrances. Around town the roads are fairly quiet, which makes it a good place to get used to driving on the left.
Heading south, the road runs through villages and cane fields to Souillac: buses frequently stopping, pedestrians on the verges and cane lorries in season. To reach Port Louis or the north, you rejoin the M1 motorway near the airport.
