These terms govern access to and use of the RentCar.mu platform. By creating an account or making a booking, you accept them.

1. Purpose and role of the platform

RentCar.mu is an online platform connecting travellers with car rental agencies established in Mauritius. The platform acts as a technical intermediary.

The rental contract is concluded directly between the customer and the partner agency. RentCar.mu is not a party to the rental contract and does not rent any vehicle in its own name. Each agency remains solely responsible for its vehicles, their insurance, maintenance, licences (NLTA/Tourism Authority) and the compliance of its services.

2. User account

Creating an account requires accurate, up-to-date information. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for any activity from your account.

You must have legal capacity to contract. Driving a rented vehicle is subject to additional conditions (minimum age 21, a valid driving licence held for at least one year).

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the platform, not to post unlawful, misleading or infringing content, and not to attempt unauthorised access to other users' systems or data.

Reviews must be genuine and correspond to a real rental.

4. Bookings, prices and payment

Prices, options and conditions are set by each agency and displayed before you confirm a booking. Unless stated otherwise, the rental is paid directly to the agency at vehicle pick-up; where online payment is offered, it is handled by a secure payment provider. The deposit is left with the agency (usually a bank hold).

5. Intellectual property

The platform, its design, texts and code are protected. Unauthorised reproduction is prohibited. Content provided by agencies (photos, descriptions) remains their property and is published under their responsibility.

6. Liability

RentCar.mu uses reasonable efforts to keep the platform running but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The platform is not liable for the performance of the rental, which is the agency's responsibility, nor for damage resulting from the customer's improper use of the vehicle.

7. Termination

You may close your account at any time. RentCar.mu may suspend an account in the event of a breach of these terms or fraudulent activity.

8. Governing law and jurisdiction

Use of the platform is governed by French law, the publisher being established in France (Act No. 2004-575 of 21 June 2004 on confidence in the digital economy — LCEN).

The rental contract concluded with the partner agency and the performance of the rental are governed by Mauritian law. Mandatory consumer-protection provisions applicable to the customer remain reserved.
