What RentCar.mu is
RentCar.mu is an online marketplace for car rental in Mauritius, launched in July 2026. It lets travellers compare and book cars directly from local rental agencies, without going through an international broker. Today 2 partner agencies offer 64 vehicles on the platform.
Licensed agencies only
In Mauritius, renting out a car legally requires a PSV (Contract Car) licence issued by the National Land Transport Authority (NLTA): the cars carry yellow plates and are insured for rental. Every agency is approved manually before it appears: we check its Business Registration Number (BRN) against the public CBRD register, and each car's PSV licence number is shown when the agency has provided it. Agencies remain solely responsible for their licences and insurance, and we suspend those that no longer comply.
How it works and how we earn money
Bookings are confirmed online and paid to the agency at pick-up. Agencies use our software for free to manage their fleet, planning and digital vehicle inspections (timestamped photos and signatures at pick-up and return); RentCar.mu takes a commission on bookings made through the marketplace.
Who runs it
RentCar.mu is published by WEBCARE (SIREN 130 570 575), part of the WebCare group, and run by its founder Saif-Ullah Golaup. The team also publishes MauritiusMaps, an interactive guide to the island.
